A constable named Kanhaiyalal was arrested in Jaipur for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 5,000. He was from the Pratap Nagar police station and had been demanding money to avoid arresting a complainant in a case related to an online camera sale. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) said that Kanhaiyalal had been pressuring the complainant since February, initially asking for Rs 10,000 to settle the issue. The complainant had returned the camera, unhappy with it, but the seller filed a police complaint, leading to Kanhaiyalal's involvement. According to ACB officials, the constable continued to ask for a bribe even after the complainant explained the situation. Before the Holi festival, the ACB confirmed he was seeking a bribe. Kanhaiyalal sent a QR code for online money transfer, but the complainant said he would deliver the cash in person after Holi. On Wednesday, Kanhaiyalal met the complainant at the police station to finalize the bribe. The ACB acted quickly and arrested him as he received the money. Kanhaiyalal, who joined the police in 2011, has a family living in Ludiyawas. After his arrest, ACB officers visited his home but found it locked and have since sealed the property as part of their investigation.
