Construction begins on New Cebu International Container Port set for 2028 completion

Construction has begun on the New Cebu International Container Port in Consolacion, Cebu, with a budget of P16.93 billion. The project is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2028. The port will enhance trading in the Visayas by improving vessel turnaround and container handling. It will feature five quay cranes and a 500-meter quay wall for accommodating large vessels. This project follows a long delay, with plans dating back to 2002. A loan agreement between the Philippine and South Korean governments in 2018 supports the construction and equipment procurement.
