Consumers urged to recover unspent loyalty points
Many households may be missing out on significant savings by not claiming unused loyalty points from stores like Tesco, Boots, and Sainsbury's. These loyalty programs can turn forgotten points into valuable cash or discounts. To find your Tesco Clubcard points, visit the Tesco Clubcard website. Here, you can view your voucher history and any unspent points. If you have vouchers about to expire, you can extend their life by making a small purchase on the Clubcard site. For example, spending 50p on a £10 voucher can give you new vouchers worth £9.50, which have longer expiry dates. Boots customers earn Advantage Card points, collecting three points for every £1 spent. However, points expire if the card is unused for one year. To check your points balance, log into Boots.com or ask a staff member in-store. Nectar Card points can be earned at Sainsbury's with every £1 spent. While these points do not expire, accounts can close if there is no activity for a year. You can manage your points using the Nectar Card app, where you can also lock or unlock spending. Morrisons offers points through its More Card, with 5,000 points converting to a £5 voucher. Balance updates can be made via the Morrisons app or website. Superdrug’s Health & Beautycard points are valid for 24 months, expiring after 12 months of inactivity. Customers can check their points online or via the Superdrug app. Costa Coffee rewards "beans" for drinks purchased, with 10 beans equal to a free drink. Beans expire if there is no activity on the app for 12 months. Loyalty programs like these provide opportunities for savings. However, consumers should remain vigilant about pricing practices. Some retailers may increase prices before applying discounts to loyalty cardholders. Therefore, it’s wise to compare prices and ensure you are truly getting the best deal available.
