Cork and Barrel in Avon closing due to declining sales
Cork and Barrel Wine Bar and Restaurant in Avon, Ohio, will close its doors on April 19 after eight years in business. The announcement was made on the wine bar's social media pages, where they expressed deep sadness over the decision. Cork and Barrel cited a significant drop in sales as the main reason for shutting down. They mentioned that their sales had “drastically dipped to the point of no return.” The post noted that the business was close to becoming profitable but faced unexpected challenges. Before the closure, Cork and Barrel plans to offer special promotions and events to encourage customers to visit. They shared that the closure was disappointing, but they cherished the relationships formed with their patrons over the years. The restaurant, which opened in 2017, previously occupied the space of the Vintage House Cafe. Nearby, a new restaurant, Cooper’s Hawk Winery and Restaurant, opened last November. The closure of Cork and Barrel follows the recent loss of John Christ Winery in Avon Lake.
