Cornwall Council approves 400-lodge holiday resort plans
Cornwall Council has approved plans for a new holiday park despite significant public opposition. The proposed resort, named Green Ridge, will feature 400 lodges on over 70 hectares of agricultural land near Newquay. This project, submitted by Kingsley Leisure Developments, was initially approved in November 2024. However, it faced more than 350 objections from local residents and campaigners. These groups, including a protest organization called Residents Against Green Ridge Development, argued that the council had not thoroughly examined claims regarding economic benefits and job creation. The campaigners also expressed concerns about how the holiday park would affect the local landscape. They urged Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner to intervene and overturn the council's decision. However, Rayner chose not to intervene, stating that the matter should be determined by the local planning authority. Following this news, campaigners expressed their disappointment with the outcome. Kingsley Leisure Developments refrained from commenting on the situation for now, but they indicated they would issue a press release soon.
