Cornwall's Watering Hole to unveil rooftop terrace for summer
A popular beach bar in Cornwall, known as The Watering Hole, is set to open a new rooftop terrace in time for summer. This bar, which has been in operation since 1978, is considered one of the oldest beach bars in the UK. The expansion plans were approved in 2022, and construction began last November. The new rooftop area will feature a bar, café, and additional seating. The renovations will also include new toilets, showers, and improvements to protect the bar from storms. The owners expect the rooftop bar to open by May. The Watering Hole is famous for hosting the annual music festival, Tunes in the Dunes. This year’s event is scheduled for June 6-8 and will feature artists like Busted and Jess Glynne. In addition to the rooftop project, The Watering Hole has taken over a nearby youth hostel, which has been renamed Droskyn Lookout. The hostel will undergo a major renovation to create affordable accommodation, a café, hot tubs, and saunas. The bar is excited about these developments and looks forward to welcoming guests this summer. Tourists have described it as an exceptional place to enjoy drinks right on the beach.
