Couple fast-tracked relationship during Covid-19 lockdown
Bethany Robinson, a 27-year-old ambulance worker from North Yorkshire, made a significant life decision during the pandemic. She and her boyfriend, Jake Darnley-Robinson, 34, moved in together just three months after they started dating, as lockdown forced them into a "make or break" situation. When lockdown began in March 2020, Bethany was alone with her two children. Jake was at his mother's home, packing to join her. Nervous about the quick decision, Bethany sought her family's opinion. They supported her, reminding her that both she and Jake were in love and that the children were happy. Bethany had left a difficult relationship before meeting Jake. They had known each other since 2016 but reconnected in 2019. Their friendship developed into a romantic relationship, which blossomed under the pressure of lockdown. Jake expressed concern for Bethany's well-being and the kids, leading to their decision to live together. Over the next few years, they faced challenges, including health issues from Covid and the stresses of parenting. Despite these struggles, they grew closer. A sudden pregnancy ended in a miscarriage, prompting discussions about having a child together, which eventually led to the birth of their daughter, Ada, in February 2022. Jake proposed to Bethany in April 2022, and they plan to marry in July. Bethany reflects on her journey, grateful for the love and support she found during tough times, and excited for their future as a family.
