In Thanni, near Eravipuram, Kollam, a couple has died by suicide after allegedly killing their two-year-old child. The tragic event took place on Wednesday morning. The couple, identified as Ajeesh, 38, and Sulu, 36, were facing serious financial problems and personal challenges related to health. Ajeesh recently returned from abroad and was working as an assistant in a lawyer’s office. The couple had built a house by taking out a loan, but financial difficulties forced them to sell it. Recently, Ajeesh was diagnosed with blood cancer, which added to their stress and despair. Preliminary investigations suggest that the couple smothered their child, Aadhi, before taking their own lives. However, the final results will depend on a complete post-mortem report and tests of the internal organs. A suicide note found at the scene highlighted their struggles with money and health issues. The family lived in a rented house with a sheet roof near the BSNL office in Thanni. When they failed to respond in the morning, relatives broke down the door and found Aadhi’s body on the bed. Ajeesh and Sulu were discovered hanging from iron rods in the roof. The police were notified and have moved the bodies to Parippally Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem and further inquiries. An unnatural death case has been registered by the Eravipuram police.
