Couple mistakenly takes suitcase containing cannabis in Japan
A couple on their first vacation accidentally picked up the wrong suitcase at the airport, leading to a shocking surprise. While traveling from Surat Thani International Airport in Thailand to Narita Airport in Japan, they took a black suitcase that wasn’t theirs. The couple, who are unnamed, had only planned to travel with a red bag and this black case. Upon landing in Suvarnabhumi Airport, the rightful owner reported the black suitcase missing. Airport staff contacted the phone number associated with the bag, which belonged to the couple's daughter. However, she did not answer, leaving the situation unresolved. After waiting at the airport for four hours, the couple continued to Japan with the suitcase in tow. Once in Japan, the couple tried to open the suitcase for toiletries and realized it was locked. They called their daughter for advice, who suggested checking the baggage tag. On a tour shortly after, some travelers and their guide opened the suitcase, only to find it stuffed with 24 kilograms of dried cannabis. They immediately informed airport authorities, which triggered a lengthy investigation. Japanese customs cleared the couple, who had no knowledge of the illegal contents. They had to spend an unexpected night at a hotel near the airport but continued their trip the following day. The tour guide expressed disbelief online, questioning how such a large quantity of cannabis went unnoticed through the airports. He thanked everyone for their concern and support during the ordeal.
