Couple sent to rehab, daughter in foster care
A couple in Ludhiana has been sent to a drug rehabilitation center after local police found them heavily intoxicated. Their four-year-old daughter has been placed in foster care due to neglect. The couple, who recently moved to a village in Samrala, was once financially stable. The husband worked as a property dealer and later as a motor mechanic. However, their lives declined due to their addiction to drugs. The police acted after the local community expressed concern about the couple's health and the wellbeing of their child. During a raid, authorities found the couple in poor condition and the young girl in unhygienic surroundings. Both parents tested positive for drug use. According to Pavitar Singh, the local police officer, this case highlights the need to save families struggling with addiction. The girl will stay with a local family until her parents complete their treatment. After their recovery, she will be reunited with them. Police officials, including Jyoti Yadav, emphasized their commitment to fighting drug abuse and supporting affected families. They believe community involvement is crucial for creating a drug-free environment in Punjab. The state’s chief minister has set a deadline for police to eradicate drugs in the region within 90 days.
