In 2021, Dawn Cook and her husband Richard discovered the 18-by-36-foot shed while shopping. Dawn, a former real estate agent, saw great potential in the structure and imagined it as a cozy home. They bought the shed for $27,000 and used their own land on Douglas Lake for the project. With some help from professionals, they upgraded the shed into a full home. The finished product includes two bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. It also features a kitchen with a gas range and large dining island, along with two balconies and a patio. Dawn designed the stylish interior with a mix of farmhouse and beach themes. The couple spent around $170,000 to complete the project. After living in the home for six months, they decided to sell it. They received multiple offers and sold it above the asking price. Dawn believes they could have sold it for even more if they had waited, due to its attractive lake view. Now, Dawn and Richard are looking to start a new project. Their daughter, Amanda, dreams of turning their story into a TV show. Dawn says she might consider doing more home transformations if given the chance.
