Courier owner fakes robbery to cover financial losses
A courier firm owner tried to fake a robbery to recover a financial loss. Salman Talib Dawood, who owns an angadiya business, was arrested with two accomplices in Patan district after police uncovered the scheme. Salman reported that two men mugged him for Rs 26.50 lakh while he was delivering cash. This incident happened on March 10. However, police found his story suspicious during the initial investigation. After gathering information, police questioned Salman, leading him to confess. He admitted that he staged the robbery with accomplices Sameer Chauhan and Asif Ghanchi. Instead of cash, the bag he claimed was taken contained only cardboard. Salman had actually given the cash to a man named Afzal, claiming it came from a land deal. To cover up, he discarded his phone and the bag into a canal and called the police. Officers managed to recover the full amount of Rs 26.50 lakh, along with two motorcycles and three mobile phones.
