Courts ordered reinstatement of thousands of fired employees
Two U.S. courts have ordered the immediate reinstatement of tens of thousands of federal probationary employees fired from various departments. The rulings state that the Office of Personnel Management lacked the authority to terminate these employees. Additionally, a Maryland judge blocked an executive order that required contractors to sign agreements against diversity initiatives. The administration has not complied with this ruling, continuing to enforce the provision for some agencies. Farmers have filed a lawsuit against the administration for withholding funds from the Inflation Reduction Act meant for clean energy projects. Meanwhile, Trump is seeking Supreme Court intervention to end birthright citizenship, challenging lower court rulings that blocked his executive order.
