Cowboys aim to trade for RB Ashton Jeanty
The Dallas Cowboys struggled with their running game last season, ranking among the worst in the NFL. They finished with the sixth-fewest rushing yards and only had three runs longer than 20 yards, also a league low. Observing the success of their rival, the Philadelphia Eagles, who had a strong rushing attack, the Cowboys are looking to improve. One major move the Cowboys may consider is a trade with the New Orleans Saints. This trade could allow them to acquire the ninth overall pick in the NFL Draft. The Cowboys are interested in Ashton Jeanty, a standout running back who had a record-breaking college season. However, they might need to move up to secure him as other teams, like the Las Vegas Raiders and Chicago Bears, are also eyeing him. In the proposed trade, the Cowboys would exchange their 12th and 76th picks, along with a later pick, for the Saints' ninth and 112th picks. This would enable the Cowboys to pick Jeanty, who led college football with 2,601 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns last season. He was a Heisman Trophy finalist and won the Doak Walker Award, recognizing him as the top running back. Bringing in Jeanty could significantly boost the Cowboys' offense, helping to ease the workload on quarterback Dak Prescott and receiver CeeDee Lamb.
