Cowboys target Jalen Milroe as QB backup option
The Dallas Cowboys are preparing for the NFL Draft and have many positions to fill. One key focus may be on finding a backup quarterback. Last season, Dak Prescott struggled at first and then suffered a serious injury that ended his season. Cooper Rush took over but has since joined the Baltimore Ravens. Trey Lance, who played in week 18, is currently not signed with the team. The Cowboys need a stronger backup than Will Grier. Experts suggest that Jalen Milroe, a quarterback from the University of Alabama, could be a top pick for the Cowboys. Milroe excelled at the NFL Combine with the highest Athleticism Score among quarterbacks. While he is a strong athlete, his throwing skills may need work. Over the last two seasons, he passed for 5,678 yards, scored 39 touchdowns, and had 17 interceptions. He also rushed for 1,257 yards, accumulating another 32 touchdowns. Milroe could learn from Prescott while also being groomed for future starting duties. If selected in the second round, the Cowboys would expect him to develop into a valuable player. This could be similar to the Eagles’ experience with Jalen Hurts, who became a starter after being drafted. Milroe might also prove to be a valuable asset that the Cowboys could trade if he performs well when given the opportunity.
