CPI demands 75% job reservation for Tamils in Tamil Nadu
The Communist Party of India (CPI) has urged the Tamil Nadu government to ensure that 75% of jobs in industrial units are reserved for locals. During a recent debate, CPI MLA T. Ramachandran raised concerns over out-of-state youth taking many of these jobs. He pointed out that Tamil Nadu has a strong manufacturing sector but many job opportunities are not available to local residents. The CPI's ally, the Communist Party of Marxists (CPM), joined this call and asked the government to cancel its order that allows outsourcing for certain job roles. CPM MLA M. Chinnadurai emphasized the need to fill vacant positions within the public service to help reduce unemployment, especially among educated youths. Chinnadurai also highlighted the plight of transport workers and called for the government to pay any outstanding dues. He urged for increased support for people with disabilities. Additionally, he mentioned ongoing protests by employees from various sectors and stressed the importance of addressing their issues without resorting to arrests.
