Crash on Highway 1A closes road near Cochrane
A serious crash occurred on Highway 1A, just east of Cochrane, early Wednesday morning. The RCMP closed the road following the accident, which involved two vehicles. Emergency services received the call about the crash at 5:20 a.m. There were three people in the vehicles. Helicopter footage showed significant damage to both cars. One person was flown to Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary in critical condition. Another was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition. The third person did not need to be transported. Highway 1A was closed between the Gleneagles Drive exits during the busy morning rush hour. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. The RCMP expects the road to remain closed until at least noon. However, the investigation may take longer.
