Creamline Cool Smashers eye 17th semifinal appearance
The Creamline Cool Smashers achieved their 100th win under coach Sherwin Meneses with a strong performance against the Chery Tiggo Crossovers. They won the first match of their quarterfinal series in three sets: 25-10, 27-25, 25-21. The team is now close to setting another record. If they win again on Saturday, they will have made it to the semifinals for 17 consecutive tournaments. Alyssa Valdez, the team's captain and a three-time MVP, believes their long history of success gives them an advantage in achieving more milestones. Valdez stood out in the match, scoring 16 attacks and providing solid defense with 13 digs and 9 receptions. Setter Kyle Negrito helped her teammates with 20 excellent sets. Other players like Bea De Leon, Bangs Panaga, and Tots Carlos also contributed significantly to the win. Coach Meneses expressed gratitude to his players and the management for their support in reaching this milestone. He mentioned that their goal remains to continue winning games. The match was not without challenges; the Crossovers fought back hard, especially in the second set, but the Cool Smashers managed to turn the game around with strong teamwork.
