Cricket and hockey excluded from Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow

Cricket and several other sports have been removed from the Commonwealth Games 2026, which will take place in Glasgow from July 23 to August 2. This decision impacts India's chances for medals, as the country was a strong contender in these events. The Games will now feature only 10 sports, including athletics, boxing, swimming, and judo. This marks the first time since 1966 that badminton will not be included, and it will be one of the few editions without any racket sports. Around 3,000 athletes from 74 Commonwealth nations are expected to participate. The changes aim to reduce costs for the event.
