Criminal brothers evaded police, committing numerous crimes
Two brothers, Ajay and Dinesh Kumar, have been involved in multiple criminal activities for nearly ten years. Despite having many pending cases against them, they continued to live freely in Lucknow, even driving e-autorickshaws. Ajay Kumar, 26, was killed in a police encounter recently after he murdered a woman in Malihabad. The victim had arrived in Lucknow after a job interview. She was attacked by the brothers after they lured her to Malihabad. Dinesh, 35, is currently in police custody as a co-accused. Ajay had a history of crime starting in 2015. He was linked to 23 cases, primarily theft and fraud. Serious charges under the NDPS Act and the Gangster Act were also filed against him. Dinesh has nine cases on his record, mostly for petty crimes like theft and robbery. The police have started initiatives to improve safety. They plan to introduce color-coded QR codes for e-rickshaws to identify drivers, including those with criminal backgrounds. Commissioner Amrendra K Sengar aims to enhance public security through these measures. At the time of his arrest, Dinesh showed no remorse, smiling for the camera. Ajay had faced a bounty of ₹1 lakh on his head before his death. He lived with his mother and another brother, while Dinesh lived alone nearby.
