Crunchyroll moves most One Piece episodes behind paywall starting today
Crunchyroll will soon require a premium subscription for most episodes of the popular anime One Piece. Starting December 3, episodes from the Water 7 arc to the Fishman Island arc will be behind a paywall, with more episodes following in 2025. Currently, the first 206 episodes, covering the East Blue to Sky Island arcs, will remain free. However, all episodes beyond that will only be accessible to paying subscribers. This change comes as the series goes on hiatus until April 2025. Fans have reacted negatively to the announcement, expressing frustration on social media. Some believe the previous model of offering most episodes for free was unsustainable, while others criticize the decision as greedy.
