Crystal Mangum admits to fabricating Duke lacrosse rape allegations
Crystal Mangum, who falsely accused three Duke University lacrosse players of rape in 2006, has publicly admitted for the first time that her allegations were untrue. In a podcast interview, she stated she fabricated the story for validation. Mangum, currently incarcerated for a separate crime, expressed remorse for her actions and hopes the accused players can forgive her. The players were declared innocent in 2007 after the case fell apart, with no evidence supporting Mangum's claims. The prosecutor who initially supported Mangum's case was disbarred for misconduct. Despite the false allegations, no charges were brought against Mangum for her claims.
