CSK signs Ravichandran Ashwin for IPL 2025 in homecoming deal
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) acquired Ravichandran Ashwin for Rs 9.75 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction. Head coach Stephen Fleming described it as a "homecoming" for Ashwin, who previously played for CSK from 2009 to 2011. Fleming noted that Ashwin's experience and skills will be valuable, especially in the slow conditions at Chepauk. CSK also signed Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad for Rs 10 crore to enhance their bowling strategy. Fleming expressed surprise at the lack of interest in New Zealand player Rachin Ravindra, who was picked up at a low price. He highlighted Ravindra's potential to develop into a key player for the team.
