Curfew disrupts property registrations in Mahal, Nagpur
A curfew in Mahal is affecting property registration work in Nagpur. Realtors and their agents are trying to book appointments at other registration offices, but it is difficult due to high demand. Many want to complete transactions before March 31, fearing a rise in property prices from April. The Mahal registration office is one of the busiest and usually handles 40 to 50 documents daily. The Sakkardara office is also experiencing delays. Advocates say people who normally finish their work in a couple of hours are now waiting all day because of the curfew. Tejinder Singh, a builder, mentioned that the extra workload cannot be fully accommodated at other offices. Each office has its own daily tasks, so they can only handle a few additional cases. Gaurav Agrawala, president of CREDAI, noted that property registration is now more flexible in Nagpur. It can be done at any office in the district, which helps manage the backlog. The curfew has caused frustration and potential financial losses. However, some believe the situation affects the city's reputation more than just monetary aspects. Virendra Kukreja, a real estate developer, asserted that such unrest sends a negative message about Nagpur, a city known for its peace and good living conditions.
