Curfew enforced in South Waziristan for public safety
A 12-hour curfew has been imposed in South Waziristan, starting March 17, from 6am to 6pm, due to security concerns. The main route from Kaur Fort to Jandola will be restricted, but the Kaur Fort-Gomal-Girdawi to Wana route remains open. The decision follows recent violent incidents, including a thwarted terrorist attack and a mosque blast that injured four people. Security forces have faced increased threats, prompting the curfew to ensure public safety. In January 2025, Pakistan saw a 42% rise in militant attacks, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan being the most affected regions. The surge resulted in numerous fatalities and injuries among security personnel and civilians.
