Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) has started a new study to explore treatments for liver cancer. This project is a partnership with the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) in Patna and the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) in Hajipur. The Indian Council of Medical Research is funding the study with a grant of about Rs 1 crore. Rizwanul Haque, the dean of environmental sciences at CUSB, leads the research team. The main goal is to create Designer T cells using stem cells. Liver cancer is a significant health issue in Bihar and other parts of India, making this research very important. Haque explained that the team will focus on generating these special T-cells from induced pluripotent stem cells. They will test how effective these cells are against liver cancer. This research could open new treatment options and improve existing immunotherapies for this type of cancer. If successful, the study may lead to innovative strategies to combat cancer globally, especially for solid tumors. The team hopes their work will contribute to fighting liver cancer more effectively.
