Cyclist killed in hit-and-run in Chandigarh

A cyclist was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Chandigarh on Friday night. The victim, 57-year-old Surender Kumar, was riding his bicycle when a speeding car struck him at the Sector 24/25 light point. The accident happened around 8:42 PM. An eyewitness named Susil reported that he saw Surender cycling from Sector 24 when the car hit him as he was turning towards Chowk. The force of the collision threw Surender 20 to 25 feet away from the impact site. Emergency services quickly arrived and took Surender to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital in Sector 16. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The police have opened a case under several sections of the law and are working to find the driver who fled the scene after the crash.
