The lengthy process of getting into her costume and harness made it difficult to step away during long shooting days. Erivo, who plays Elphaba, explained that multiple harnesses were required for different stunts, making it cumbersome to change. She chose to skip restroom breaks to avoid the time-consuming process of re-prepping her costume. The film adaptation of "Wicked," starring Erivo and Ariana Grande, is set to be released in two parts. The first installment will premiere in theaters on November 22, exploring the backstory of the Wicked Witch of the West.
