Dakshina Kannada seeks unified safety command for agencies

Deputy Commissioner M.P. Mullai Muhilan announced plans for a unified safety command during the 54th National Safety Day event in Mangaluru on March 20. He emphasized the need for this command to enhance safety measures in both industrial and residential areas in the Dakshina Kannada district. Mullai Muhilan noted that many industrial facilities, some categorized as high-risk, operate in the region. These facilities should regularly test their safety systems and take necessary actions to prevent hazards from spreading. A coordinated safety command with all relevant departments can help minimize risks to life and property. He also encouraged citizens to assess their own safety measures periodically. The event included other officials, such as Narendrababu from the Factories and Boilers Department, Nandakumar Velayudhan Pillai from Mangalore Refinery, and Mangaluru Chief Fire Officer B.M. Tirumalesh.
