Dale Johnson wins photo contest with San Francisco cable cars

Travel can be wonderful or frustrating. It often depends on how we choose to get there. This week, readers were invited to share photos that showcase interesting modes of transportation. The winner is Dale Johnson from Summerville. His photo features colorful cable cars in San Francisco, California. Paul Brustowicz, also from Summerville, received an honorable mention for a photo of Ducati motorbikes lined up at a rental shop in Milan, Italy. It was a rainy day, and business was slow. Another honorable mention went to Mervyn Gibson from Charleston. He captured a striking image of a BMW showroom near Munich, Germany, showing off various car models. Next week’s theme is “bears, beets and Battlestar Galactica.” Participants are encouraged to submit their best photos related to these topics. Combining all three in one image could lead to a win! To enter, send your photo to yourphotos@postandcourier.com by noon on Thursday. Include your name, town, and a description of where the photo was taken. Remember, photos must be clear, at least 1,500 pixels, and not have any commercial watermarks. Weekly updates with editor picks will be shared online, and the chosen photo will appear in the newspaper's Life section on Sundays. All entries could also be featured in the annual magazine, My Charleston. The organizers reserve the right to refuse any photo for any reason.
