Dallas appoints Jerry Mott as new police chief
Dallas has appointed Jerry Mott as the new chief of police, effective July 1. He will succeed Tom Simpson, who is retiring on June 30 after serving since 2013. Mott has 26 years of law enforcement experience and joined the Dallas Police Department in 2004. He previously worked as a cadet with the Oregon State Police and as a sheriff’s deputy. City manager Brian Latta expressed confidence in Mott's leadership abilities in a statement.
