Dane DeHaan joins Apple TV+'s Neuromancer cast
Apple TV+ is adapting the book Neuromancer by William Gibson into a series. The show has added actor Dane DeHaan, known for his role as Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, to the cast. He will portray Peter Riviera, an important character who joins the heist crew later in the story. The main character, Case, will be played by Callum Turner. Other cast members include Briana Middleton as Molly, Joseph Lee as Hideo, Mark Strong as Armitage, and Clémence Poésy as Marie-France Tessier. Filming for the series began in January in Tokyo, but no release date has been announced yet. Neuromancer, published in 1984, is a foundational work in the cyberpunk genre. It follows a young hacker whose abilities are crippled after an injury. He is lured into a risky heist with the hope of regaining his skills, only to find things spiraling out of control. DeHaan's character, Riviera, is portrayed as a skilled thief with a violent nature, causing Case and the crew to be wary of him. Fans have long awaited a faithful adaptation of the novel. Although DeHaan was considered too old for the role of Case, the casting of the 35-year-old Turner suggests the series may adjust character ages. Currently, Apple TV+ continues to release casting news, but details about the show's premiere remain unclear.
