Daniel Hauser sets WHL wins record in Calgary
Calgary Hitmen goalie Daniel Hauser made history on Wednesday by setting a new Western Hockey League record for most wins. He achieved this milestone during a 5-1 victory against the Red Deer Rebels. Hauser, 21, stopped 21 shots to earn his 123rd win. This broke the previous record held by Nolan Maier of the Saskatoon Blades, who set the mark in April 2022. Hauser’s current record stands at 123 wins, 36 losses, and 9 ties, with a goals-against average of 2.59 and a save percentage of .910 over 175 games. Hauser began his WHL career with the Winnipeg Ice in March 2021. He had an impressive start, going 20-0-2 before suffering his first regulation loss. He later played for the Wenatchee Wild before joining the Hitmen in January. Since the trade, he has maintained a strong performance, with a record of 20-4-0. In the game against the Rebels, Ethan Moore and Sawyer Mynio each scored a goal and provided an assist. Other goal scorers for Calgary included Carson Wetsch, Brandon Gorzynski, and Hunter Aura. Red Deer’s lone goal came from Samuel Drancak, while their goalie, Peyton Shore, made 25 saves. In other WHL action, the Saskatoon Blades defeated the Brandon Wheat Kings 3-1, with David Lewandowski scoring twice. And in Kelowna, the Victoria Royals topped the Rockets 5-3, supported by two goals from Cole Reschny.
