Darnell Stokes Jr. commits to Syracuse football program
Darnell Stokes Jr., a wide receiver from Delaware, has committed to play football for Syracuse University. He is the third wide receiver from the Class of 2026 to join the Syracuse program. Stokes plays for Indian River High School in Dagsboro. He recently helped his team win the Class 1A state championship. In the final game, he scored four touchdowns. Overall, Stokes caught 24 passes for 639 yards last season and averaged 26.6 yards per catch. He also rushed for 593 yards and 10 touchdowns. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound athlete is known for his speed, having run the 100 meters in 10.8 seconds. Although he has offers from several schools, including Rutgers and Virginia Tech, Stokes chose Syracuse. His commitment was announced on social media. Syracuse is currently building a strong recruiting class for 2026. They now have 11 verbal commitments, including four wide receivers. Stokes is part of a growing group of recruits from Delaware.
