Darton chip shop converting to micropub after approval

A fish and chip shop in Darton will soon become a micropub. Barnsley Council has approved the plans for Darton Fisheries on Church Street to transform into a small bar. The micropub will serve bottled beers, wines, and cocktails. The new establishment will have a license to open every day of the week. However, the owner plans to open mainly from Monday to Wednesday, particularly during busy periods like Christmas or for special events. To address noise concerns, the owners have made several commitments. They will play only low-volume background music and will not use external speakers or host live performances. Barnsley Council's planning officers reviewed the plans and found that local businesses and residents were already used to commercial activity in the area. Staff plans to either car-share or use public transport to get to work, and deliveries will be made minimally by the owner using a personal car. The micropub will serve last orders by 10:30 PM every day, including weekends, and any outdoor seating will close by 9:00 PM.
