Daughter allegedly stabbed mother to death in West Virginia

An elderly woman was found dead in her West Virginia home over the weekend. Police say her daughter is accused of stabbing her to death. The victim, Elaine Labenne, was 64 years old. Officers responded to a call about a stabbing on Saturday night, March 22. They found Labenne with stab wounds and pronounced her dead at the scene. Her daughter, 41-year-old Shanna Marie Vannorman, has been charged with murder. Vannorman was living with her mother at the time of the incident. Just two months earlier, Labenne had bailed her daughter out of jail on another charge. Vannorman had been arrested in January for allegedly assaulting a government official and had also faced disorderly conduct charges. Vannorman is currently held at the North Central Regional Jail in West Virginia. Police chief Mark Kiddy confirmed the details about the case.
