Daughter-in-law suspected in Ghaziabad man's murder

A 64-year-old man was found dead in his home in Ghaziabad on Friday night. Police say he was killed by being struck repeatedly. His daughter-in-law, Arti Singh, is the main suspect in the case. When officers arrived, they discovered Paati Singh's body on the ground floor of his house in the Govindpuram neighborhood. There was blood on the floor and on one wall, suggesting an attempt had been made to clean it up. Arti, who moved in a month ago with her two young children, initially locked herself and the kids on the upper floor after the incident. Local residents heard loud noises coming from the house and called the police. During questioning, Arti claimed Paati had made inappropriate advances toward her. She alleges that he tried to touch her, which led her to defend herself with a cricket bat, hitting him on the head. The police confirmed that Paati had injuries consistent with this account. An autopsy has been ordered. Paati was living alone after the death of his son during the COVID-19 pandemic. The police plan to file a formal report and continue their investigation into the incident.
