Dave Portnoy criticizes Texas A&M player’s late game play
Dave Portnoy has expressed anger over a Texas A&M player who nearly affected his March Madness bet. The founder of Barstool Sports was betting on Yale, needing them to lose by less than 12.5 points against Texas A&M. In the closing moments of the game, Texas A&M's Hayden Hefner tried to score despite the Aggies already leading by double digits. Portnoy felt that this was unnecessary and could have ruined his bet. He reacted harshly during a live stream saying, “What an a–hole. That guy should be in prison.” Portnoy watched as Hefner lost control of the ball at the basket, which allowed Yale to score. The game ended with a score of 80-71. Portnoy took to social media to criticize Hefner for trying to score when the outcome was already decided. Known for his gambling activities, Portnoy has placed large bets on various sports including the NFL and horse racing. He also has a partnership with DraftKings for promotions linked to his bets.
