David Cronenberg's The Shrouds releases on April 18
David Cronenberg, a well-known filmmaker, is back with a new body horror movie called The Shrouds. It stars Vincent Cassel, Diane Kruger, and Guy Pearce. This film is considered one of Cronenberg's most personal works, as he wrote it after the death of his wife. The main character in the film also deals with the loss of a loved one. The Shrouds will be released in limited theaters in the US on April 18, starting in Los Angeles and New York. It will expand to more theaters across the country on April 25. There is no confirmed release date for the UK yet. In the movie, Cassel plays a tech entrepreneur named Karsh. After losing his wife, he develops new technology that allows people to see the decay of their deceased loved ones. Kruger plays both Karsh’s late wife and her sister. Pearce, who recently received an Oscar nomination, plays a character named Maury, while Sandrine Holt plays Soo-Min. The plot unfolds in a near-future world where Karsh's invention faces challenge after vandalized graves appear, threatening his business. He also becomes involved in a complicated relationship with his wife’s sister while no longer coping well with his grief. Cronenberg's career spans over 50 years, with many notable films, including The Fly and A History of Violence. The Shrouds is produced by several companies and is being distributed in the US by Janus Films.
