Dawson-Boyd wins first Class 1A basketball championship
Dawson-Boyd has made history by winning its first boys basketball state championship in Minnesota. The Blackjacks defeated Cherry 81-74 in a close game on Saturday. This victory is especially notable as it is Dawson-Boyd's first appearance in the state tournament in 34 years. Brayson Boike was the star of the game, scoring 29 points to lead his team. Dawson-Boyd maintained a narrow lead throughout the match, but faced challenges when Cherry made a strong push in the second half. However, Dawson-Boyd bounced back with a late run to regain control in the final moments. Both teams relied heavily on their starting players. Dawson-Boyd's bench only scored three points, while Cherry's bench did not contribute any points. Despite struggling against Cherry's tough defense, Dawson-Boyd found an effective strategy through three-pointers. The team made 10 shots from beyond the arc, with seven of those in the crucial second half.
