Daycare worker sentenced for sexually touching child in Sydney

A man named Alex Tong has been sentenced to two years in prison for sexually touching a child while he was working at a daycare in Sydney. He pleaded guilty to his crime, which involved a child under the age of 10. Tong appeared in court with supporters as he awaited sentencing. The judge handed down a two-year sentence, but Tong will only have to serve a minimum of 12 months before he is eligible for parole. Parents of children at the daycare expressed their deep pain and concern about trusting Tong with their kids. They were shocked to learn about his actions at the Only About Children centre in Seaforth. Court documents show that Tong had been reported to the daycare management three times before he was finally caught in September. A colleague saw him tickling a child's groin and rubbing the child's bottom. It took more than a week for the daycare to suspend him and for the police to be notified. Following this case, two individuals from another Only About Children centre have also been charged with failing to protect children from abuse.
