He made eight three-pointers, matching the second-best performance in Dayton's history. Bennett scored 30 points. Nate Santos contributed with 15 points, and Enoch Cheeks added 12 points. Dayton is the top seed in its region, but the game took place in Florida because of the First Four event at their home arena. However, Dayton went into halftime ahead, 44-38, after closing the half with a 7-0 run. In the second half, Bennett continued his hot streak, helping Dayton build a lead of 68-49. Florida Atlantic made a late push but could not catch up. Dayton’s free throws by Bennett and Cheeks sealed the win. Next, Dayton will face Chattanooga in the Second Round of the NIT, scheduled for either Saturday or Sunday. The game will be aired on WHIO Radio.
