Dearborn Inn reopens after extensive restoration in Michigan

A historic hotel in Michigan has reopened after a careful restoration. The Dearborn Inn, built in 1931 by Henry Ford, is known for hosting many famous guests. It is located at 20301 Oakwood Boulevard and is part of Marriott Bonvoy’s Autograph Collection. The hotel has 135 rooms and was recognized as a historic site in 1982. It was one of the first hotels designed to serve airport travelers, situated near the old Ford Airport. The building's design was inspired by New England inns. Notable guests over the years include Walt Disney, Orville Wright, and President Ronald Reagan. Bill Ford, a member of the Ford family, spoke about the hotel's importance to the community. He emphasized the commitment to preserving its history while also planning for the future. Many original features were kept during the restoration, including the iconic Italian marble flooring and a vintage phone booth made to look like an old Ford airplane. The Dearborn Inn sits on 23 acres and now includes a farm-to-table restaurant named Clara’s Table, along with a cocktail bar called Four Vagabonds. This summer, the hotel will also unveil five themed guest suites and event space totaling 17,000 square feet. Room rates start at $350 per night, and bookings have begun. The hotel also showcases artifacts from the Ford archives, making it a significant destination for history and travel enthusiasts.
