Decomposed infant body found in Pune drainage chamber

In Pune, a decomposed body of a seven-month-old baby was found in a drainage chamber. The discovery was made after residents reported a bad smell from the area in Hadapsar. Sanitation workers were cleaning the clogged drain when they found the infant's body. The police recovered the remains from a drainage ditch behind the Rajgad housing society around 1 PM on Monday. Authorities could not identify the child since the face was too damaged to recognize. Senior Inspector Satyajit Admane mentioned that they suspect the baby may have been abandoned due to being born from an illicit relationship. There were no witnesses or CCTV footage available at the site. The police have started looking into local hospitals for women who may have given birth to boys in the last seven to eight months. They are also checking nearby areas to see if anyone has reported a missing child. An FIR has been filed against unknown persons for secretly disposing of a child's body.
