Defense attorney requests mental health evaluation for New Albany mass shooting suspect
A defense attorney for Bruce Reginald Foster III, accused of a mass shooting at a New Albany cosmetics plant, has requested a mental health evaluation to assess his client's competency for trial. This follows Foster's arrest after the shooting on February 4, which left two dead and four injured. Foster, 28, was apprehended after a 12-hour manhunt. He faces charges of aggravated murder and felonious assault, with a bond set at $20 million. A grand jury will consider additional charges, including a second aggravated murder charge. Witnesses reported Foster's strange behavior before the shooting. He had a history of mental health issues, having been hospitalized twice in 2022. Despite this, he legally purchased the firearm used in the incident.
