Deion Sanders sees Heisman potential in Travis Hunter from first practice at Jackson State
Deion Sanders, head coach of Colorado, recognized Travis Hunter's potential for the Heisman Trophy during their first practice together at Jackson State three years ago. Hunter's impressive skills as both a receiver and defensive back stood out to Sanders. In the 2024 season, Hunter achieved remarkable stats, including 92 catches for 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns, along with strong defensive numbers. He won multiple awards, including the Heisman Trophy, contributing to Colorado's improved record of 9-3. Colorado's performance improved significantly from a 4-8 record in 2023. The team finished the season ranked No. 20 and secured a spot in the Alamo Bowl against BYU on December 28.
