Delhi air quality hits season low as calm winds hinder dispersion
Delhi's air quality has worsened, reaching a season-high AQI of 382, classified as "very poor." This decline follows a brief improvement after Diwali, when AQIs were lower due to favorable wind conditions. Calm winds and cooler temperatures have contributed to the pollution spike. The India Meteorological Department forecasts continued low wind speeds and potential smog or mist in the coming days. The Central Pollution Control Board reported that 14 monitoring stations recorded "severe" AQIs. The contribution of stubble burning to pollution has decreased, while vehicular emissions remain significant.
