Delhi air quality worsens to 'very poor' after Diwali celebrations with AQI at 330
Delhi's air quality has worsened significantly after Diwali celebrations, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching 330, classified as 'very poor.' This marks a sharp decline from last year's AQI of 218 during the same period. The increase in pollution is attributed to widespread firecracker use, despite a ban, along with adverse weather and other pollution sources. Areas like Anand Vihar reported even higher levels, reaching the 'severe' category. The Delhi government deployed 377 enforcement teams to uphold the firecracker ban, but violations were reported across neighborhoods. Other regions in Haryana and Punjab also experienced poor air quality, with AQI levels in the 'poor' and 'very poor' categories.
