Delhi is developing the Mayur Nature Park, a large project on the eastern bank of the Yamuna River. The park will cover 371 hectares and is expected to cost Rs 136.8 crore. Completion is planned for October 2026. The park will include nature trails, cycling paths, meditation zones, and a marketplace. The park is part of a larger plan that includes ten similar projects along a 22km stretch of the river. Work on Mayur Nature Park has already begun, and the site will also be connected to new infrastructure like the Barapullah Phase III flyover and the Delhi Metro's Pink Line. Located near the Amrut Biodiversity Park, the Mayur Nature Park will have three vehicle entry points and two pedestrian entrances for easy access. It is designed to cater to all age groups, featuring areas for children, teenagers, adults, and families. The park will include diverse activities, such as a habitat trail, cycling paths, a yoga zone, observation platforms, and dedicated areas for bird watching. There will also be a marketplace with food stalls and spaces for children's play, including a sandpit and adventure zones. A planting strategy will create different zones within the park, including grassland, forest, wetland, and urban interface areas. This project has been in planning since 2015 and aims to restore the riverfront while enhancing green space in the city. It is being managed under the guidance of the Yamuna Monitoring Committee.
