Delhi experiences very poor air quality as smog blankets capital after Diwali celebrations
Delhi's air quality worsened significantly on Friday, a day after Diwali celebrations. Many areas recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) above 350, indicating 'very poor' conditions. Anand Vihar and Aya Nagar both reported an AQI of 396. The Central Pollution Control Board noted that smog covered parts of the capital, raising health concerns for residents. Areas like Jahangirpuri and Dwarka also showed high pollution levels, with AQIs of 390 and 376, respectively. Residents expressed distress over the sudden decline in air quality. Cyclists reported health issues, including difficulty breathing and throat irritation, attributed to pollution from fireworks during the festivities.
